Thank Goodness! Actress Nkiru Sylvanus and ex-Mr Nigeria Kenneth Okolie have been freed by their kidnappers. Nkiru and Kenneth were released less than an hour ago in Owerri. The kidnappers blindfolded them and dropped them off at an unknown location where they were able to call friends to come pick them up. No details on whether they paid a ransom. Sandy Hook Shooting: Names of all 26 victims

Reports have emerged that Adam Lanza (pictured left), had visited Sandy Hook Elementary the day before Friday's massacre during which he was involved in an altercation with four members of staff - three of whom are now dead. The fourth teacher wasn't at school yesterday and is currently being interviewed by investigators. Adam forced his way into the school where he murdered 26 people including; (clockwise) Principal Dawn Hochsprung, teachers Victoria Soto and Lauren Rousseau and school psychologist Mary Sherlach, before turning the gun on himself.

Late former governor of Kaduna state, Patrick Yakowa came to Oronto Douglas' father's burial in a private chopper he hired, but when leaving the venue, he abandoned the chopper he came in and decided to join Gen Azazi in a Navy helicopter en-route Port Harcourt. Five minutes into the return flight, the military helicopter exploded in the skies as it came down in flames, killing all the six people on board.

Governor Sullivan Chime is not dead - Enugu State Govt

Enugu state government have debunked the rumours going round that their State Governor, Sullivan Chime, died over the weekend at an Indian hospital where he went to receive treatment for an undisclosed ailment. Sullivan Chime has been away from the helm of affairs in Enugu state since September 2012.

The Enugu state commissioner said the governor is 'hale and hearty' and would soon be returning to the state. He also asked those peddling the death rumours to desist from such.

Senate passes N161.6 billion supplementary budget for oil subsidy

The Senate on Thursday, passed the supplementary appropriation bill of N161.6 billion. The amount will serve as payment for fuel subsidy to oil marketers for 2012.

President Goodluck Jonathan had on Tuesday sent a request to the National Assembly to approve an additional N161.6 billion to ensure steady supply of petroleum products during the festive season.
Senate President, Sen. David Mark, however, decried the high level of corruption being perpetrated under the fuel subsidy scheme, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Jigawa Governor's son arrested for money laundering at Kano airport

One of the sons of the Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, was arrested around 12 midnight at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport as he prepared to board an Egypt Air flight to Cairo.

Aminu Lamido was flagged after he declared $10,000 in his possession to agents of of the Nigerian customs at the airport. However further checks by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the airport revealed that he was carrying a lot of money far higher than was disclosed.
Custom officials at the airport told SaharaReporters that Mr. Aminu travels frequently with huge wads of cash ostensibly to launder money on behalf of his father and some officials of the state.

EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest to SaharaReporters, saying that EFCC office in Kano will charge the governor's son to court as soon as practicable.

Matthew Ashimolowo completes billion Naira KICC University

The flamboyant preacher and senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Church (KICC), has completed his billion naira KICC University situated at Ode Omu, Osun state.

KICC University sits atop over 500 acres. The National University Commission of Nigeria requires at least 250 acres of land for a university campus.

The university would be structured around six faculties and 22 mainstream departments. The Schools of Medical Science and Pharmacy in the College of Medical Sciences as well as the Faculty of Law are to run faculty/school-based degree programmes. Academic activities would commence initially in two Schools: Humanities, Management & Social Sciences, and Information Science and Technology. Courses to be developed by the School of Information Science and Technology will be central to the teaching programmes in all Departments. There is a total of 59 academic programmes.

Pastor Tunde Bakare's son & NYSC commandant trade slaps in NYSC Ondo camp

It was with tension and on edge that those who witnessed this exchange of slaps whisper this gist. According to them, 'coloured trousers had been banned within the camp and the camp commandant spotted Pastor Tunde Bakare's son, Segun Bakare in black trousers. When apprehended, the lad asked the commandant if he didn't know he was the son of Tunde Bakare, the popular preacher. The commandant immediately delivered a slap on the face of the young man and Segun replied with his own slap.

Segun's mum had given the commandant a number to call when she dropped off her son in camp, so immediately this incident occurred, the commandant called Mrs Bakare and after a few words, the phone was handed to Pastor Tunde Bakare himself. After hearing what had happened, Pastor Bakare asked that his son be disciplined for disobeying camp rules. The phone was on speaker and Segun heard his father's instructions and as soon as the phone call ended, he went down on his knees and started begging. The matter has since been resolved.

Federal Government Plans World Class Terminals for MMIA

The Federal Government said yesterday during the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, that they are planning to build six new world class terminals in the three wings of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos to further improve the quality of services provided by the aviation industry to people of the country and foreigners. The project will commence next year.

The Pope sent out his first tweet today Wednesday December 12th, a week after joining Twitter

His main account is @Pontifex which is in English but he has seven other linked Twitter accounts. The other seven have a suffix at the end for the different language versions. The German version is @Pontifex_de, and the Arabic version is @Pontifex_ar.

The tweets will be going out in Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Arabic and French. The pope already has over a million followers on all his accounts...

Helen Ukpabio's mum dies of heartbreak after losing 3 sons same day

Evangelist Helen Ukpabio's mother, Mrs Etim Ukpabio, has passed on months after witnessing the killing of three of her sons...on the same day. She also lost a daughter a few days later who died from shock after learning about what happened to her brothers.

Mrs Ukpabio's three sons, Joseph, Charles and Emmanuel Ukpabio (pictured above) were allegedly killed by men of the State Security Service (SSS) on Sunday March 25th 2012 in front of their aged mother (Read the story HERE), who family members say never recovered from the incident. They say she died a very unhappy woman sometime last month and kept begging people to help her get justice for her children
